Internet Suspended

I have a Mac Book Pro and have both the mac and windows systems on it. I have sophos on both of them, however my internet only works on my mac. On the windows it says its suspended because the sophos is not updated, but when i click to update the sophos (cause it isnt doing it automatically) it says "could not connect to server" and stops. Please help, i NEED windows internet working for one of my classes to turn do assignments. Thanks

The NAC is supposed to let you update both Windows and your Anti-Virus software even when you're blocked (so that you can get unblocked), but I guess it's not for some reason. If nothing else, you could go to the library, jump on the wireless network there, and download the Sophos updates - I've had a few clients do that whilst working down in the Zone.

EDIT: Dan's the man. His suggestion is probably the solution to your problem.

Hello and thanks for posting.

We have helped many people with this issue so let me suggest the most common fix.

Right-click the Sophos icon (near the clock) and select "Configure updating". For the update location, enter the following URL:

http://sophosru.arizona.edu/esxp

All other fields can be left blank (username, password, etc). Let me know if this solves your problem.

Is there a way for you to doublecheck that you have the right update server name for sophos?

Right click on the sophos icon in your dock, and click "Open Sophos AntiVirus". When the User Panel comes up, you should see an icon that says "Configure Sophos Anti-Virus". Click on that and you should see an option that says "Update Options". Where it says "Address", you should have this:

http://sophosru.arizona.edu/esxp

Everything else should be blank.

Give that a try. If that doesn't work, you might want to head down to the Underground tomorrow. They have walk-ins Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 4 and can take a look at it for you.
