Hey,
I am not the only one with this issue, but UAWiFi lately has been disconnecting me frequently. This happens to my friend running XP and to me running Vista. What's the deal?
Thanks

It could be any number of things...are you or your friend doing anything specific when this happens? Do you or your friend have the latest drivers for your wireless cards?

I've been experiencing frequent disconnects for the last week. It's not the computer, I believe UITS is performing some maintenance or making some changes to UAWiFi.
Hmmm... I haven't heard of any recent maintenance but I will check...

The problem varies with location, for instance in the zone i get disconnected frequently no matter what laptop i'm using, but in the MLL the problem does not exist. The worst location I've seen is the ILC.

Location is important, access points can only handle so many connections. I wouldn't be at all surprised to experience disconnects in heavy traffic areas such as the dorms or info commons.

I've been constantly disconnecting all day ever since I got back from spring break. I know it's not my laptop because I never disconnect on other wireless connections. I figured it would have been fixed by now, but now it's really just getting on my nerves.

This problem is pretty frequent around La Paz, I've noticed. After Spring Break many people have been coming in with wireless issues, and say that the problem started around Spring Break. However, I haven't noticed issues on my own personal laptop.

Response to Jon:
We have not been doing anything specific, just the usual, checking class websites, forums, etc.., all drivers have been up to date. These disconnects just started around spring break time. My friend noticed it before spring break, me after spring break
Hi everyone - I reported possible problems in La Paz to the help desk and received the following response:
"We investigated the Access Points you are connecting to in La Paz they don't show any problems and have a few users connected right now. We reccomend you update your wireless cards drivers and check you configuration. You can stop by UITS help desk in the computer center room 224 or OSCR in the ILC.. Contact us for an appointment 621-TECH or 621HELP. "

Can you descirbe the issues you are seeing.
Does the connection just stop?
Is it asking you to ReAuth?
Are you connected but cannot pass traffic?
What/How do you fix it when it does happen?
I assume your on UAWiFi but what SSID are you connected to when it happens?
Is there some areas that it consistently occurs more then others?
Drivers, windows update does not count as updating drivers. Are you going to the Laptop manufacture or WLAN card manufactures websites and getting the latest drivers?
What are you power settings for you wireless card?
What is the roaming aggressiveness set to for you wireless card?
I personally do not experience any of the reported issues but I don't doubt what is being reported. If I cannot replicate the issue so that I can take a few packet captures it will be very difficult to resolve the issue so the more information the better.

Response to Justin:
the connection will drop and when it tries to reconnect it will keep asking for ReAuth non stop, even with correct credentials. Yes my netid password has been updated, yes my drivers are up to date . blah blah blah ..
I can't fix the issue, once it happens and i get kicked off uawifi, i have to use uapublic for a while before uawifi will finally authorize me. It tends to happen all over campus, mainly in the ILC, but it has also happened to me in Harvil and outside on the mall.
I have been using uawifi flawlessly until just after spring break
My roommate and I are having similar problems in La Paz. Randomly our internet will go out, doesn't really matter if we are playing CoD4 or just surfing the net so I don't think it's a bandwidth issue. There are a few interesting things I have noticed though :
1. As I said before, it doesn't matter what we are doing, it will just go out randomly. The wifi icon in the bottom tray still shows we are Local and Internet access to UAWifi.
2. This is probably the weirdest part - Although the internet doesn't work in any browser (I've tried IE and Firefox), I'm still able to use IM programs like AIM or the Steam messenger. Even though I can't connect to any games or through my browser, I can still actively talk to people...
3. The only way to return internet access is to restart my computer. I've tried resetting my connection through the Vista Network and Sharing Center, but that doesn't work.
4. I am no longer able to use the hard wire cable to get internet access. It only gives me local access on Network 2.
As some people have said before, the UAWifi was fine before spring break, all the trouble started afterwards. Hopefully my info can help to solve this problem.

That is an all together different problem from being booted from UAWiFi. Have a look at this thread here (http://forum.oscr.arizona.edu/showthread.php?t=1117). It's a problem with either your firewall or internet connection sharing.
As for the wired connection you may have in advertently set a static IP address for it or installed a new wired network card that needs to be registered. Each network card has it's own specific MAC address that needs to be registered for network use. If you change out network cards, you'll have to register the new one.

Hey Everyone,
Thank you for providing us details about the problems you are experiencing while using UAWiFi. Getting disconnected in the middle of your wireless session is no fun and can certainly be very inconvenient, so I encourage you to setup an appointment at the OSCR Help Desk to have your computers checked by one of our knowledgeable Tech Leads. The Help Desk can be reached by calling 626-TECH (626-8324).
Also, I can see that UAWiFi problems are reoccurring in La Paz so my staff and I will perform additional tests and work with the Network Operations technical staff to identify the source of these problems.
Thank you for your patience as we work on resolving these issues.
