Ever since i came back from break i can't get internet access even after being connected to UA's wireless networks. After connecting to UAWifi, i onl get local access for some reason. I tried connecting to UAPublic and UAGuest and they both connect to both "local and internet" (according to vista), but i cannot get on any webpage or anything. Also, i had been using wired internet before i left for break and now whenever i connect the same exact ethernet cable, i only get local access. I even tried connecting to UAWifi using someone else's UAWifi account, but i got the same outcome. I desperately need help. Thanks.

I would recommend coming down to the OSCR underground located in ILC Rm 136 so we can take a look at your computer. We are having walk-in appointments from 9am-7pm until Feb.1. It is a first come first serve basis, so the earlier you arrive, the better.

Sounds like you guys are still having peap encryption issues. Your idiot techs as they usually are in oscr have continuously told me it is a hardware amazingly if i switch from vista which is the only place i have been having the issue, and use the same driver in linux it works. Sounds like you are still the same lousy UITS support of this university.

I can assure you that nothing has changed on UAWiFi that would effect your client. As for your Vista box: Which version Vista 32bit or 64bit, which wireless card model and manufacture, and which driver version are you using. A bit of curiosity is how are you using a driver that works on both Windows and Linux, is it just using a driver designed for Windows? 9/10 time updating drivers is the solution to the issue. especially with Vista if your drivers are not at least from 2007 or newer its going to issue. In your case it sounds a bit funky as your Ethernet and your WiFi wont work it doesn't sound like an issue with UAWiFi. Have you ever statically assigned addresses to your network adapters that would be blocking your ability to receive a DHCP address? Have you checked that your machine is not blocked on the network? If you bring your machine in to OSCR and or UITS help desk they can get your mac address which I can then use to verify you are not blocked on the wireless system and some of the tools the UITS help desk or I can use in the wireless system will tell us exactly where you are failing to connect.

No one is saying it's a hardware issue. We're saying it's an issue with the hardware manufacturer not properly supporting our encryption type in the drivers. Plus, you aren't using the same driver in linux as in Vista. If it's an intel card, it means it's an open source driver being constantly maintained by the community. If it's an atheros card, it's also and open source driver being constantly maintained by the community. If it's a broadcom card, they have no linux drivers available and you'd be using a Windows XP driver with Ndiswrapper or the bcm43xx driver. None of which are the same as the Vista driver.
P.S. The only recent wifi chipset on the market that I have seen that simply cannot connect to UAWiFi is the Marvel Top Dog Draft N card. Every other card I have managed to get on the network with a simple driver update.
