Think you know Mac stuff? Here's a mini-quiz.

Who is this?
What was the software it was part of?
What was the name of the system software component it utilized?
Name some of his friends.
Do it without a Google search. If I was old enough to have it, most of you should know what it is. Adam, if you don't get this one...I'll be disappointed.

This is Bullwinkle J. Moose.
His friend is Rocket J. Squirrel.
...right?

Incorrect.
I, in conjunction with MLL co-workers found the answer via google, but we cry foul because it's hardly a general piece of mac trivia...most of us consistently perform well on the Mac Addict yearly mac history quiz, but this one stumped us. But I won't spoil it.

Why is it not Mac trivia?
Oh it is. But its not like you should lose your Mac Geek title just because you can't figure out what the hell it is that your picture refers to.

Ohhh...LOL. Wasn't my intent to demote you from Mac Geek status, just a chance to recall the old days of the Macintosh.
Well then, good sir, you seem to be recalling something that no one else here remembers.

Okay since no one seemed to get it, the above character is The Talking Moose. It was an old piece of software from the days of Mac OS 7 (and earlier). He used MacInTalk, the first Mac speech engine. Basically just sat in the corner of your desktop and said witty things from time to time. Had a whole slew of other characters that were his "friends."

Anybody who got this right should gain "Mac Weirdo" status, not Mac Geek...

Brings me back to the days of Microsoft BOB.. that was an odd program, one of the few total failures of microsoft, at least in a commercial sense.

I have a copy of BOB on CD if you want it.;)
I remember Dr. Spadzo...he was supposed to be an AI psychologist right? My friend had a copy of one that played as a DOS program.
I still have the Talking Moose on floppy somewhere. On an odd note, I actually remember installing it on one of the old pizza box macs that used be in Engr.

I think the fact that I have the Apple logo permantly engraved on my back has secured my title of Apple Nerd for ever.
