It depends on if the phone supports wpa2 and peap authentication. If not, it won't be abe to connect to UAWiFi. Even if you can connect to UAPublic with it, you won't be able to use VoIP because the ports are blocked. What model is the phone?

Technically using Skype on campus is against the acceptable usage policy...might be wrong about that though.

(Reason being that when you are not connected, you are allowing non-university people to use the university network)

as far as acceptable use, there's no official stance on Skype (yet). it's one of those grey areas where if it's not harming the network, it's allowed (i.e. xbox 360s, etc.).

as far as UAwifi goes, i'll leave that to the experts

Like rich said if it supports wpa and peap authentication then you might be able to do UAWiFi (depends on if it has the right certificate). As far as UAPublic, there is an agreement page that you must accept when you first connect to UAPublic and most VOIP phones do not have web browsers which means you can't accept the agreement page making it so that you will have no internet access :(

802.11b/g Wireless Compatibility allows you to use your Skype account with complete mobility.

WiFi certified IEEE802.11b/g

Advanced Security: supports WiFi Protected Access (WPA and WPA2) with pre-shared keys (PSK).

does this mean it will work? it doesn't say anything about peap. I don't really see how its any different from connecting a game console, and everyone does that. I don't really think I'm granting access of the network to non-ua people.

^ Probably not. Your phone supports WPA-PSK (Pre-Shared Key), but it does not look like it supports WPA Enterprise (which uses PEAP for authentication), which is what UAWifi uses.

The WPA and WPA2 are a good start but it still needs to support PEAP like Dane said. IT also needs to have the certificate used to connect to UAWiFi. Also game consoles if using wireless are only able to connect to UAPublic as well because they do not support WPA Enterprise. Most people using game consoles are using them plugged straight into the wall or via UAPublic.
