View Full Version : i need help with my laptop, really really bad

ok, my os crashed on me and i cant boot back into it, so i have to reinstall it, no prob, but i go into my bios to change my boot set up to read the cd, i go to exit and save changes, i hit the enter key on my keyboard and nothing... it quit work on me, and i cant for the life of me fix it, i took it apart looked at poked it and i still get nothing, now i cant install a os cause i cant chang anything, the mouse wont work theres no extra keyboard plug in there is usb , but if i cant install the software for it do to no os. what can i do please help.

Call 520-626-8324 during the week if you are a student. They can schedule an appointment to take a look at the computer.

umm. i'm not a student, and i live in oregon, can i just use a usb keyboard?

Yes you can use a USB keyboard, the windows install will detect it.

i cant install windows untell i chang it to boot up from cd in the bios, so i can just plug in any usb keyboard and i should be able to use it in the bios?

yes. However, if your keyboard isn't working to the point of not being able to access the bios with it, that's on the hardware level not the software level (ie your keyboard is dead or a possible motherboard issue)

i can use the laptop keyboard just fine, it's the enter key it's self that doesnt work, in order to have it boot from cd drive in my bios, because i have no working o.s. i have to except the changes by hiting the enter key on the laptop keyboard. thats the key that doesnt work, my question is can i just plug a usb keyboard into the laptop so i can use it to change what i need to in the bios,, because it wont boot up windows so i have to reinstall it
