I want to share my printer at home (HP 4000) over my wireless network. Do any of you have experience with wireless print servers? I considering buying something like a D-Link DP-311U (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=38) but wanted to see if anyone's had experience or advise before I buy.

I wouldn't buy that model. We have one that sits unpowered on a shelf - it kept losing connectivity - you can try ours if you want and see if it works better in your house...

I've personally had better luck just sharing a printer via Windows XP or OS X. That's how I set it up at my parents house. They have 1 computer that the printer is connected to then it's shared over the network that way. The only downside to it is that machine needs to be turned on in order for the printer to be seen on the network.

^ Agreed. JetDirect devices and other printer sharing devices don't work well until you get to the enterprise level, and that's pricey.

I'm convinced, three against and zero in favor of using some kind of print server. I will go with Garret's idea of sharing the printer via another machine, OS X, in my case.

Now I just have to buy a decent parallel to USB converter so I can use the existing parallel cable to connect the printer to a G4. The G4 doesn't have a parallel port and the printer doesn't have a USB port.

Ed - if you have an available ethernet port on your router, you might go with a wired print server. i have a netgear wired print server (http://www.netgear.com/Products/PrintServers/WiredPrintServers/PS101.aspx) that I use at home so the printer doesn't have to be attached to the 1 computer when the other 1 wants to print.
