I have a wireless router through which my roommate and I are connected. DHCP is disabled on the router. I want to wirelessly connect my wii to the router, for internet (school-related purposes), however I cannot connect. The Wii says cannot connect to internet, yet I can see the network and I also know for a fact that other people are connecting their wii's to wireless routers. Please help in connecting the wii, again for internet browsing only. Thank you.

Nah, he's talking about his router.
Honestly, it's hit or miss. If a computer can connect wirelessly to the router, the Wii should.

wireless routers in dorms have been very sketchy overall since the imposition of the nac. There must be a way to do it, either by luck or finding someone with a similar router and a wii and cloning their setup.

Anything through a wireless router is not guaranteed, even if DHCP is disabled.

Especially if it's a gaming console because technically while it isn't really enforced, gaming of any type is not allowed on the university network (including the dorms). They do have the ability to determine the difference between a PC and a Wii, PS2/3, Xbox/xbox360 and can flip the switch on a whim.

Yes I have registered the MAC address, sorry I forgot to mention that previously. We we online with it the day before it stopped working but then we had to reset the router. The Wii sees the router, it recognizes that our router has WPA-TKIP encryption and asks for the password, which we enter and which is the same passoword we use to connect the computers to the router. The connection test is initiated and we get error 52330, cannot connect to the server, which makes me think that it is connecting properly to the router but it then thinks the router doesn't have internet, maybe because DHCP is disabled and I'm not connecting the internet cord, which goes out of the wall into the router, into the "internet" plug on the router but rather into one of the other 4 slots. The Xbox is connected and on the internet through the router (for school purposes only) so I don't know why the admins would disable Wii addresses and not Xboxs. We were on before so there must be something that the reset of the router changed. Other people just connect theirs and it works.

I tried to connect again today and it works! I'm thrilled and I want to thank everyone for their responses. Idk what I did but I'm pretty sure I didn't change any settings or anything. I'll keep u updated on whether or not I get kicked off. Thanks again.

Getting game consoles to work online has just been a hit or miss thing. It was probably nothing on your end
