I recently ran into a problem where I am unable to connect to AOL Instant Messenger or view my webmail at my.screenname.aol.com, Im not sure why this could be happening as I am sure I have no viruses or adware/malware currently.

Any suggestion?

Check your hosts file in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. It's a hidden system file, so you'll need to turn on viewing of hidden and system files. In explorer, click tools>options, select the view tab, and toggle the relevant options. Open it with notepad, wordpad, something like that, and see if there is anything in there regarding my.screenname.aol.com. Comment out any offending lines by adding a # in front of them.

Does this happen when you are plugged into the wall, on wireless, or both?

On UAPublic, AIM is blocked. On UAWiFi, it's allowed.

Well currently I've got broadband through the wall to my modem then through my linksys router and into my machine, I don't think it's problem in that area but I could be wrong, hope this info helps.

Strange, it appears I am unable to log into any SSL website, I'm running firfox 2.0.0.1 right now and I've already enable SSL 3.0 and SSL 2.0 from the about:config window so I'm not sure why this could be happening?

Can you log-in to AIM or your AOL web mail from another computer? If yes, the problem is with your computer. If no, the problem is with your AOL account.

I am not able to use aol on demand. I never set up a pass word or username but it is requiring me to have one in order for me to use aol on demand

If you want to use a service provided by America Online you will have to abide by their rules. Creation of a username/password is a common requirement in order to use on-line services.

For two weeks I can't logon to aol mail either. I get this when I try:Oops! We can't find the webpage you're looking for
Here are some suggestions:

Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's internet connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that your browser is permitted to access the Web.

How can I get to aol to fix problem? It doesn't appear to be on my end.

I am having the same problem on a mac. aol said I had to download a new program for macs. I changed and put the icon on the toolbar and it was working OK until the last couple of weeks. Now I just get the error message and can't get any of the aol news. I do still get email.
