Hey Sorry if this has ever been brought up before, but here's my problem:

About a month ago I noticed that the sound coming from my computer was scratchy as if there was interference, but it only happened when something with bass was playing, for example a violin sound wouldn't cause anything to go wrong, but if i was playing a rap song, the scratchy-ness would be really bad. I know it is not the speakers, and it is not the volume, and it is not the audio driver. I thought it was a virus, because i did a system scan and it found a Backdoor virus, and when i got rid of it, the sound was fine again, however, it recently started to happen again, and no scan with any program i have can find any other viruses on my comp, so i am no longer sure if it is a virus at all, or if it was just a coincidence. anyone who has anything they can help me with, would be much appreciated.

An update on the sound from yesterday: it has disappeared completely. my computer is a PC windows XP, the motherboard is a SY-KT400 DRAGON Ultra.

I don't know if there is any hardware anyone knows of that i can replace, or if someone knows of any viruses that do this to a computer, or what, but anyone that knows anything, let me know.

Wow man, no one has replied this at all. idk if you even still check this thread, but try a new sound card, and tell me what happens.

"If it aint broke don't fix it!"

You said it dissapeared correct? The issue could be many, many things.
If the problem comes up again, post more specs, what you were doing, recently intstalled items or added hardware, etc. But until it happens again there should be no real concern or need to go and stir that issue back up correct?

No what i meant before, was the sound went away totally. but another forum suggested that if i have a lot of cords behind the computer, like USB cables, or power cords etc. that that can cause interference. and they were right. i moved a lot of my cords out of the way, and it fixed it. so yeah, thanks all of you for the many replies on here. the other forum i posed on didn't even have a section devoted to audio problems, and they knew what was going on instantly. sweet!
