If the UA has a Wi-fi connection...why can't I log into it with my nintendo ds?

Like all things wireless on campus, you first have to register the DS' MAC address which you can access in the WIFI options on any wifi games you have.
However, I'm pretty sure there is a policy the UA employs that you can't use the university's internet to play games.
Plus..I've already tried it on my DS with registering the MAC address and it still won't connect. I think it has to go through something else. I don't know what yet.

I'm probably mistaken, but I thought there were problems in registering things like an xbox/wii/etc. because the network either tracks the connection or because the first 6 numbers of the mac designate the manufacturer, it blocks it. Therefore the mac addresses for a DS is linked to nintendo and is blocked as it goes against usage policy. Just a thought.

The DS only supports WEP, not WPA. However, UA Public should work methinks.

yea...i've tried it all..UApublic don't work. It doesn't even recognize UAWiFi or UAPublic. Oddly enough it still recognizess UAWireless..but it won't connect. I've tried them all..it doesn't connect to any of them. oh well...espressoart is a good place to link up your DS and at any McDonalds...but i'm not sure about the one in the student union. :)

Let me know if anyone has gotten it to work on campus. :)

I can't get my PSP to go on the UAWifi either, so maybe protable game devices aren't going to work with the current system. As far as xbox/Wii/PS3 I know lots of people who can use their 360's on the network. I also registered my PS3's MAC address and have had no problems thus far getting it on the network.

UAWiFi requires those extra settings that allow you to connect to the network via your NetID which probably has a lot to do with a PSP or Wii being able to connect and as was stated earlier the DS only supports WEP encryption (UAWiFi is WPA2)

If you get a wireless router you should be able register the MAC address of the router itself (or mask your computers MAC address on the router) and then connect it with an ethernet cord. Then setup encryption on the router (so people aren't using your router as an access point and downloading illegal stuff over your routers now registered MAC address). You should then be able to play with whatever you want.

But as was stated earlier playing games is against the usage policy :D

You shouldn't see UAwireless anywhere, that network is totally gone now...?
