Via Digg, and just confirmed it myself:

Apparently, a new feature in OS X 10.4.8 is easier screen zooming - just hold down control, and scroll up to zoom in, scroll down to zoom out. It works with both mouse wheels and two-finger scrolling on the *books that support it. You used to have to do this via a keyboard shortcut that I can't remember right now, but this is a bit easier.

It's definitely not something that you're going to use all the time, but it's good to know for when you might need it, I think.

This has been part of 'universal access' for a while now, I had it mapped to Cmd+Opt +/- to zoom in and out. It's really handy when doing demos and instruction since some of the tiny little controls in apps can be hard to see. I think I'll still have the +/- keys mapped since I can have it jump to a particular zoom level. The scroll wheel is pretty nice tho, if I need to zoom in just a bit more its easy.
