I'm doing the whole STP shebang, and part of my task is to find a way to convert a stereo .wav into a mono .wav. The right track has sound, the left track does not. Now, we're building language learning software, so we have many thousands of files that need to be treated in this way, without distorting the audio. Is there a good program that will let us run a batch process on our files to either smash the two tracks together, or rip the left channel off? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'll probably be one of the people that's doing a lot of the conversion by hand if we can't find a better way.

Haven't used it, but both Peak and Audition (ex-Cool Edit Pro) have that capability. I've never used either, but I've looked at Audition's help files on the subject, and it seems a bit confusing, so I'd check out Peak, which tends to be more simple and refined. I can help out when I'm around.

Cleaner will do this for you too. It happily converts audio just as well as it does video, and should be able to crunch tracks for you. It's in the Zone, AME, and the MLL.
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!
From the folks who produced Roxio Toast's Burn-a-Nation tour comes Cleaner 2005! Come watch it crunch tracks at the TCC! Crash defying feats of audio manipulation! Families get in at half price!
PS: I know Roxio didn't make cleaner, I just needed to write an intro line.

Did some poking around in Audition, I can get it to work with that, and they have a copy at the Critical Languages Program facility. Thanks all.
