I have a problem. A little while ago, Windows Media Player 9 was working perfectly (we have 4 user accounts on this computer), but then something happened, and it went bust on all accounts except one (mine, to be specific). It just simply didn't open any more. No error message or anything, it just didn't open anymore, when you clicked it.

I DL'ed Windows Media Player 10 in hope it would fix the problem, but no. My account is the only one it works on, and it's annoying coz my sister keeps making me put in my password, because she wants to burn CD's.

Did you install it on while logged in as an administrator?

That definetly sounds like a windows permissions problem. Although I don't think windows should be asking for an administrator login to burn CDs?

Everyone on this computer is an admin.

I suggest uninstalling WMP completely (from the Add/Remove Programs control panel). Reboot, and redownload WMP 10 from the Administrator login.

They actually have a beta of 11 out, so you might consider that instead.

Have you tried to start Media Player from the location where it is installed on your disk? (Not from the shortcut icon from your destktop or startmenu!!!!!)
if not,
1.) Log in at your sister's account
2.) Open 'My computer/c:/program files/windows media player' (this is the path only, if you installed WMP choosing the standard installation method)
3.) Double clikk on 'wmplayer application'

If WM player starts, than you simply have a shortcut on your sister's desktop/startmenu that is not a valid reference any more for opening wmplayer.exe file.
