Forgive me for not registering. For the past 45 minutes I've been searching for a decent Help Forum, but I have found NOTHING that was supportive. Most of the forums I reigstered with would send me a confirmation email and then wouldn't let me log into my account and tell me I've been suspended somehow before I've made any posts. Lazy people if you ask me. Except, I love this forum layout, it's familiar and by the looks of it, professional.

In any case, I've been in a huge pickle with Adobe Audition's video editing features. Well, I've edited videos with Audition before but now the program's not letting me do it.

Whenever I import a video, go to Multitrack video, NO VIDEO is displayed in the video box--it's just a black screen with the audio. I've tried a couple things a friend suggested but they didn't work. I don't think I'm using any unusual codecs for these videos, they're just Window Media Player videos, roughly around 5-10 MB.

PLEASE tell me what the problem is, and perhaps how I can fix it so I can see the frickin' video I'm tryin to edit.

Thanks.

Unfortunetly, we haven't gotten Audition 2.0, Premier 2.0, or Encore 2.0, but it is on its way.
When I played around with this on my machine, I found that I get the frame progression if, on the video track, you change the dropdown menu to All. I know that's kind of a confusing statment, so here's a relevent screenshot.
I don't know if you've tried this already or not, but I hope it helps.

Of course, if you're actually doing anything more complex then moving audio around or cropping the length of a clip, I'd suggest you do your editing work in Premier.

Thanks for the help. Sorry I didn't mention this before, but that menu was already set to 'All'. But, I've paid for Audition, initially for audio editing purposes, but then I noticed it had multiple audio timelines, and even extra ones could be added if need be, which was very convenient for me(Animation editing - audio timelines: Vocal, Sound Effects, Music), unlike Windows Movie Maker, which only has one or two audio timelines. I own a trial version of Premier but it is long expired.

Do you know of video making/editing software that has the option of multiple audio timelines, small loss in quality(after saving), for a reasonable price?

Out of curiosity, if you transcode your video to another format, DIVX or something - would it work? There's a 15 day free trial of a DIVX converter here, if you don't already have access to one. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DivX6.htm

I don't know if you're a student, or how much a reasonable price is, but academic superstore has a student license of Premier for $279. http://www.academicsuperstore.com/market/marketdisp.html?PartNo=748033

You might poke around these programs too: http://desktopvideo.about.com/od/softwarereviews/ss/bestfreesw2_ro.htm, specifically Avid FreeDV, and the Serif product.
