Two easy quesitons combined into 1 post:

1) Can I get Sophos for free via the UofA? If so where at and how long does the subscription last?

2) I use apple mail and I know that when one is on and off campus the outgoing server, the smtp, must be changed. Well, the year is over, I am out of the dorms, and back home... So can someone please tell me what that SMTP server is?

2.5) Does using the Cisco VPN client eliminate the need for me to change such an outgoing server?

Thank you,
TM

Sophos Anti-Virus is available for free here: https://sitelicense.arizona.edu/sophos/

If you're using the Mac client, check this thread to make sure you'll be getting the automatic updates - http://forum.oscr.arizona.edu/showthread.php?t=1418&highlight=sophos

From the page: The current contract provides computer virus protection for the University of Arizona through March, 2010

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm guessing it ends either when you graduate and leave the UofA, or March 2010 - whichever comes first.

Unless I'm mistaken, there's no need to change any of your e-mail settings when you leave campus - outgoing mail should still be smtpgate.email.arizona.edu - post back here if that isn't the case. Good luck!

If your service provider is cox, you MUST use their SMTP server when you go back home.

Otherwise, you can continue using smtpgate.email.arizona.edu, as Dane said.

Yup, using the Cisco VPN when connecting to campus will let you operate just as if you were on campus. It is a solution if you have a problem due to your ISP restricting outbound email, etc..
