Is this happening with every internet page that you go to? It is normal for many pages to have the vertical bar because there are pages that are just that big. I have come across pages that have the vertical bar too. If this is happennig to every page there may be options that can be tried to possibly fix the pages.

Hi, I'm betting you're the youngest poster we've ever had on the OSCR forums.
It sounds like your font size is set too large.
If you are using firefox, go to the view menu, then go to text size, and click decrease until the pages look normal.
If you are using internet explorer, go to the view menu, then text size, and select the size you want.
It is also possible that your resolution has been set really low. Does everything else on your computer look too big? If so, right click on your desktop, select properties, and click the settings tab. Move the screen resolution slider up a bit, then click apply.
Hope these suggestions help,

You can also try clicking on the view tab, the zoom and make sure it is not on something more than 100%

The zoom is where I would start, too. My own 9-year-old constantly hits the zoom button on the bottom of Internet Explorer. That's the usual cause of the page being too wide in our house. If you use Internet Explorer, the zoom is in the bottom right-hand corner of the window. There's a little arrow on it. Click that and pick 100% (or something less than 100). That will probably fix the problem.
