Hey everyone. So, I just picked up an iPod Video and I didn't know that you can only use USB to sync it with the computer. I don't think my aging dual 1GhZ has USB 2.0 on it (its the one before the mirrored door guy) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a PCI card expansion.

I'm looking at this Belkin: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=1902&pcount=&Product_Id=125578

But I don't know if it'll work in my computer. I know this is kind of a weak question given that I've done other upgrades, but to be honest, I've never really messed around with PCI cards.

Looks like it should work no problem. Just open up the tower and pop in the PCI card. It's not PCIe or x or any of the newer stuff, so I can't see how it wouldn't work.

I love the last bullet point on the site though:Under "PCI Card System Requirements:" add "Mac OSŪ 9.2 or higher for USB 1.1 mode Mac OS X v10.2.8 or higher for USB 2.0 mode"
Clearly this was meant as instructions for the web team to add the quoted text to the above section... but they just mashed it in as a new bullet. :)

I don't think you really even need a driver for a card like that. New Egg and TigerDirect usually have some dirt cheap USB 2.0 PCI cards.

Windows XP seems to have drivers preinstalled for cards like that, FYI. I bought one of those for our old HP desktop at home; plugged it in, booted up the machine, and XP automatically installed the drivers. Again, this was XP so YMMV.

I'm aware of that, but I still don't think it will need any software to run. Check New Egg, as I suggested.
