Looks like Paralell-ATA, a.k.a. UltraATA will die soon. SATA2 will be the new standard. Along with this comes the death of AC97 integrated audio, probably to be replaced with the new standard of integrated Intel HD 5.1 audio. Gigabit ethernet will also be the new standard, as will PCI-E (multiple 1-lane slots).
Dell, for example, has already started making the move. I know that the XPS line has integrated Intel HD audio, Intel Pro 1000 cards, and 3 PCI-E slots.
Thank GOD we're finally moving away from old archaic technologies.
