I can't streem music or videos. I get an error message that says "Can not creat direct show player". What is the deal? I googled the error message and found some forums about it that said I have to roll back to windows media player 9. Is that true? If so, then how do I do that?

In your Add/Remove Programs list, look for Windows XP - Software Updates. If you check the Show Updates box up top, Windows Media Player 10 should be listed in there.

I'd uninstall it then run Windows Update and reinstall it.

Mike, if you still can't fix it, feel free to drop into the Underground. Should take just a few minutes to fix.

OK, I rolled back to player 9 and it works great but I am not quite sure that I want to reinstall player 10 again because I don't know if it will just do the same thing... has anyone else been having problems with player 10?

It will most likey work. I assume the problem was somehow, at some point WM 10 lost a needed codec/file/uncompression agent. Rolling back and back forth would install said missing entity.

ok then, when I get home, I will reinstall 10....
