Hi.

Been having "link problems" for a few weeks. I've noticed when clicking on a link- this happens on several sites- I'm returned to the top of page. And that's it.

Until recently, there were no problems whatsoever. There have been no changes made to my Settings. Same pop-up blocker, same security level...

Some sites work fine, some do not.

Help a guy out. Thanks.

Hi brokentime,

You might be experiencing spyware problems. If you do not already have a spyware cleaning program, then I would recomend that you download and run spybot and ad-were. You can find information about spyware as well as links to download spybot and ad-were here on the oscr website.

http://www.oscr.arizona.edu/computer_help/spyware

If those links do not work for you, then here are the URLs to download from

http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10122137.html?part=dl-spybot&subj=dl&
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Hope this helps!

Hey Mike.

I do have an anti-virus/spyware program installed, and I've never had any problems. I keep these programs up-to-date. Which is why I'm baffled like I've never been baffled before.

One of the problems I mentioned earlier: I'll click on a link that's supposed to launch a site/video player, and nothing happens.

Dunno.

Thanks for replying.

You're certainly welcome to bring your machine in for a free appointment too. Call the OSCR Underground at 626-TECH and ask about times. We see a lot of stuff like this and can probably take care of it fairly quickly.

Do you have any extensions installed?

If so, it might be worth a try starting Firefox in safe mode, which disables all extensions and themes. In Windows, there should be a safe mode shortcut in the start menu. In Mac OS X, you'd open a terminal and do this:

cd /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS
./firefox-bin -safe-mode

If links work in safe mode, it could be an extension causing it.

I'll give that a shot. Here's hoping...
