Hi I have had my computer for awhile now but have never used my mail application and would like to. I would also like to use ichat which will not work without this. Do i need to purchase a mac email account or could I any of my current email accounts (www.arizona.edu) and be able to view them by opening up this mail application. if so how do i do this? I tried setting up an account but it asks for my incoming mail server and other things i am unfamiliar with.

For normal netid@email.arizona.edu accounts, the following information will get you by most time.

Incoming Mail Server: inbox.email.arizona.edu
Outgoing Mail Server: smtpgate.email.arizona.edu

The incoming server will work no matter where you are (on campus, at home, etc). The outgoing server will only work if you are on campus. If you're at home on cox for example, you'd have to use cox's outgoing mail server (smtp.west.cox.net).

I use the Mail app on my macs at home and work and it works fine.

thanks...i am at an apartment complex so i am off campus but the incoming server worked and i wasn't sure what to use for the outgoing so i called the office and they did not know the server but they said they use "gain communication" How do i find otu what my outgoing mail server is??? Sorry im clueless with this stuff thanks
