Client is having problems with a Atache Usb 256mg flash drive. Does not appear on Macs, and when it appears on Pc's, it says that it is not readable and that the disk has an error on it. So after looking online, I found a forum that said Windows 98 may be able to read it and reformat it. The computer at the Info Commons Help Desk has Windows 98, but I do not think my attempt was successful in reformating.

Ok I persnally have had this problem happen to me before, and was not able to solve it, along with help of Andrew.
Can someone, anyone PLEASE help!
Client's Email is
Evance@email.arizona.edu
She will also check forums for any replies. Thank you

Someone I know had this problem before too. She was able to reformat it in Windows XP by right clicking the drive in 'My Computer' and going to 'Format...'

The drive still appeared in 'My Computer' even though Windows said it had an error.

If she's got data on there that she needs to recover, give this a shot: http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm
I've used it on some "dead" drives for Chris Stagg, and some friends. It's great and it's freeware.
Other than that, yeah, she needs to reformat it. If that doesn't do it, then it's a dead flash drive. Unfortunetly, it happens. Luckily, they're pretty cheap now days.

We have data recovery software available at the Underground. The client can make an appointment with one of us and we can try our best to rescue files.
